PRODUCTs Overview

All Villani products have been developed by the founder of the company, Maria Villani, after her 18-years-long investigation of the effects of bioactive compounds and secondary metabolites of aquatic sponges. All products contain sponge-derived compounds with properties, that are beneficial for various skin and hair conditions, such as antibacterial, antiviral, debriding, healing and regenerative .  Some of the products contain unique microscopic needle-like particles, which are scientifically sized to penetrate the upper layer of epidermis. The micro-particles act as a delivery vehicles for the sponge-derived soluble compounds; activate a normal restorative wound-healing response in the skin, which triggers collagen and elastic production; and create temporary trans-dermal channels for enhanced permeation of the skin. 

Villani Sponge Matrix™  (VSM)™ Powder and VSM™ Extract are just some examples of proprietary products, formulated for out-license partners.  In powder form, these products contain sponge-derived compounds of different solubility and bioactivity.  The compounds can be extracted by various solvents to result in chemically different products. Using different solvents and protocols of extraction, Villani has also developed processes to result in sponge extracts with varying properties, which are used in skincare products to address skin-specific needs.  

Villani has entered into a licensing agreement with Dermata Therapeutics for the use of its patented sponge-derived product to develop various prescription products in the area of dermatology.  The first sponge-derived drug that Dermata plans to develop is a topical prescription product for the treatment of moderate and severe acne vulgaris.

Villani also entered into a licensing agreement with Villani Medical for marketing and selling professional skin care products.

DERMATA PRODUCT

Novel Drug for Acne Vulgaris

DMT310 is a topical sponge product that Dermata plans to develop for moderate to severe acne vulgaris. It contains a rare variant of freshwater sponge that is harvested from a protected location, under strict environmental conditions, using a stringent processing protocol.  Based on her years of research, the founder of the company, Maria Villani, who discovered this unique sponge, has found that harvesting this sponge from a consistent location at a particular time of year based on the monitoring of certain environmental conditions, such as outside air temperature, water temperature, dew point, relative humidity, actual and forecasted precipitation, and wind speed and direction, results in this sponge variant having a uniform chemical profile  from batch to batch and year to year. The uniform chemical profile of this patent protected sponge will play an important role in successfully developing DMT310 as a prescription product for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe acne vulgaris.

VSM™ for Villani Treatment™

VSM™ Powder has a unique combination of therapeutic properties. It is used by medical professionals in the in-office resurfacing & rejuvenating procedure called the Villani Treatment™. Upon massaging reconstituted VSM™ Powder into the skin, uniformly sized microparticles (the sponge natural skeleton) penetrate the epidermis. The VSM Microparticles™ increase the production of elastin and collagen without causing injury.  In addition, the penetration of VSM Microparticles™: a) delivers bioactive compounds deeper into the skin, b) increases blood flow, c) accelerates skin turnover, d) reduces keratinocytes cohesion, and e) facilitates resurfacing of the top epidermal layer.  VSM Microparticles™ shed off together with sloughing loose keratinocytes within the next 5 days, opening pores and revealing new rejuvenated skin. The net effect is enhanced aesthetic appearance all without the typical downtime and adverse effects associated with other resurfacing & rejuvenating modalities.

Anti-Bruising Suite

Anti-Bruising Suite is a two step treatment recommended by dermatologists and plastic surgeons to speed recovery of bruising, pain and swelling, which often occur after other aesthetic procedures, such as rhinoplasty (nose reconstruction), blepharoplasty (eye lift), rhytidectomy (face-lift) and injection of dermal fillers. The first step is an in-office procedure, which is similar to the Villani Treatment™, but specifically formulated to treat bruises. Following the procedure, patients observe erythema, which is due to the increased blood circulation in the treated skin. Vasodilation is an important means by which bruises, stagnant spots, and infiltrates are exposed to increased blood flow.

The second step is the application of a hydrogel mask saturated with professional potency Arnica Montana and other healing ingredients. This step can be performed by a patient in the privacy and convenience of his or her home. The VSM Microparticles™ that remain in the skin after the in-office anti-bruising procedure facilitate deeper penetration of the Arnica Montana active ingredients, resulting in rapid resolve of bruises, stagnant spots, and infiltrates.

Post-Treatment Care is a regimen of take-home products that provide patients with convenient regimen for skin care following the Villani Treatment™ in-office resurfacing and exfoliating procedure. They contain the exclusive VSM Extract™ in its most active form.  These products aid in the restoration, renewal, and optimization of the skin.  Use of these products is highly recommended to achieve the best possible results and minimize downtime associated with exfoliation.  These post-treatment products are rich in sponge-derived compounds that are beneficial for the skin.  Nourishing proteins, sea-derived vitamins, anti-oxidants, minerals and nutrients in the formulations replenish the skin with the elements essential for beautiful and healthy skin.
